Theresa’s work as a counsellor has been long been shaped by a simple yet profound idea: change begins with a single step. Through her own journey, she has come to understand that breaking free from feeling stuck often begins with the first and most difficult step: reaching out for support. While this can feel daunting, Theresa believes it can also be deeply transformative, opening the door to healing, growth, and self-discovery.
Theresa believes that resilience is often forged through adversity, and that personal strength can be built through life’s challenges. Guided by her passion for supporting young people, she pursued a master’s in counselling children and young people in the UK, equipping her to better support those in need of a listening ear.
Today, Theresa is a licensed and registered counsellor with the Malaysian Board of Counsellors, working primarily with children and youths. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, career dilemmas, academic pressures, identity exploration, life transitions, and self-harm.
Theresa strives to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and respected. She is skilled in creative interventions, including visual cards and sand tray work, which support expression beyond words. These approaches are especially meaningful for clients who find verbal communication challenging, helping them connect with their inner experiences in a gentle and empowering way.
