The Service Learning Malaysia-University for Society (SULAM) 2026 programme, organized by Sunway College’s Centre for Continuing Education, successfully delivered six impactful initiatives for the Mah Meri Orang Asli community of Kampung Sungai Judah between May and August 2026. The journey began where students helped community members market traditional handicrafts and produce, followed by a menstrual hygiene awareness campaign that provided essential supplies to local female students. In June, 30 young villagers visited the campus for SULAM Annual Day, experiencing an engaging "AI for Kids" workshop alongside cultural celebrations. Economic and practical support accelerated in July through a hands-on baking masterclass equipped with commercial baking appliances to foster sustainable household income and the donation of an electric scooter to assist teachers in transporting students across difficult terrain. The effort concluded in August with a food safety course and typhoid vaccinations for 29 participants, certifying them for professional food production. By seamlessly blending academic learning with real-world social action, the SULAM 2026 initiatives successfully uplifted local livelihoods, expanded educational access, and celebrated Mah Meri heritage.
